A research group led by Emily Whiting combining computational design with engineering mechanics. Projects apply topology optimization, differentiable design tools, and strain analysis to problems such as interlocking assemblies and fabric formwork, with applications in architecture and sports technology. PhD students publish at graphics and fabrication venues.
